Short-term teams usually cost the missionary a week of translating, driving, and cooking. That’s not help, that’s a second job.

Go fix the water heater and take the kids to the park. Send the parents away for two nights and don’t let them argue about it.

What you'll need

Ask what they need and do that. Don't arrive with your own project.
Don't make them host you. Book your own place and feed yourselves.
Pay for the hotel and the babysitting. Otherwise they'll say they're fine and stay home.
